Our next great adventure is the on the Celebrity Edge. We are traveling in September of 2025.
During the summer of 2023 we had an Epic vacation for a nine-day cruise in the Western Mediterranean. We started in Barcelona, Spain with stops in Cannes, France; Livorno, Italy (Florence and Pisa); Civitavecchia, Italy (Rome); Naples, Italy; Majorca, Spain; and Ibiza, Spain. This was our first cruise on NCL and was on the Norwegian Epic with 9-family members.
When cruising resumed we rescheduled the lost cruise as our first cruise out of Galveston. We travelled to Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel on the Allure of the Seas.
This seven-day trip started on 13 November 2022 and consisted of 12 family and friends
We had planned to travel with the Grandkids to Disney World in June of 2020 and family issues caused us to cancel this trip in the fall of 2019. So we decided that we might like to take a short cruise. In February 2020, Papa found a relocation cruise at a fantastic price and we booked the trip and Ted Sr and Donna decided to join us. Also after the cruise Lou was going to visit a friend in Scotland.
It was to be a Transatlantic Cruise in April of 2020 but as the pandemic gripped the world our cruise was cancelled. The trip was to be again with Royal Caribbean on the Anthem of the Seas. We were to depart 12 April 2020 from Cape Liberty, New Jersey stopping in the Azores, Ireland, France, and finishing in South Hampton, England on 24 April.
In 2019, April 28 through May 13 we had a Hawaiian Adventure. On this trip we had a group of eleven “family” members. We started the vacation on April 28, with four days on Oahu. We stayed in the Hale Koa (an AFRC hotel) on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. During this time we enjoyed a traveling around the island, the Hale Koa Luau, and a good day at Pearl Harbor. The second stage of the vacation was a relocation cruise with Royal Caribbean on the Ovation of the Seas from Honolulu, Hawaii to Vancouver, British Columbia. We embarked the ship on May 2 with our debarkation May 13. For this cruise we designed our extended family logo, our “O’Hana” and performed an adoption ceremony for all of our extended family members.
In 2018, October 29 – November 2, Nana and Papa traveled to the Bahamas. This cruise was with Royal Caribbean on the Mariner of the Seas leaving from Miami and stropping at Nassau and Coco Cay in the Bahamas. Papa convinced Nana that he needed another quick get-away. This trip was a spoiler for us. It was our first ‘holiday’ cruise (we left on 29 October and returned on 01 November), we stayed in our first suite (sweet), swam with the dolphins, and enjoyed a private cabana on Coco Cay. This trip was way too short, I definitely prefer something over seven days.
In 2017, July 7 – 14, ten members of the Berquam family traveled to Alaska. This cruise was with Royal Caribbean on the Explorer of the Seas. We traveled from Seattle and visited Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm Fjord, and Victoria, British Columbia. In May of 2017, while preparing for the cruise Lou and Ted designed the new logo.
In 2015, October, Nana and Papa traveled to the Caribbean. This cruise was with Royal Caribbean on the Independence of the Seas. Nana and Papa just needed a quick get-away.
In April 2013, 14 members of the Berquam family traveled to the Caribbean. We left New Jersey on Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas. This was our first relocation cruise from Baltimore, Maryland to Port Canaveral, Florida. We had stops in St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Aruba, Curacao, and Nassau. On this trip we celebrated June’s 90th birthday.
In 2011, February, The Lou and her father Brian traveled to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal. This cruise was with Crystal Cruise Line on the Crystal Symphony. This trip fulfilled a life-long dream of Brian Bowen to travel through the locks of the Panama Canal.
